A pre-purchase plumbing inspection is a comprehensive assessment of all water supply, hot water, and drainage systems at a property by a qualified specialist. The inspection covers the mains supply line, pressure and flow, internal pipe work, hot water system, waste and drainage systems, sewerage connection, outdoor taps and services, and any obvious or potential leak points or system failures.
A plumbing inspection is different from a general building inspection, which is mandatory in many states but often addresses plumbing superficially. A specialist plumbing inspection identifies problems that block the view: leaks in hidden pipes, corrosion in the supply line, drainage defects, and future risks.
