Sewer & Stormwater Camera Inspection on site

Sewer & Stormwater Camera Inspection

A blocked sewer line may be caused by tree roots, fractured pipes, misaligned joints, grease build-up, or multiple failures. Sewer and stormwater CCTV camera inspection shows exactly what is happening inside the pipe, where the issue is, and how severe it is. The video record helps guide the right repair, such as cleaning, relining, excavation, or section replacement, and can be shared with your plumber, insurer, or council.

What Is Sewer & Stormwater Camera Inspection?

CCTV camera inspection is a non-invasive method of visually inspecting the interior of underground sewer, stormwater, and drainage lines. A small camera attached to a flexible cable is fed through the pipe from a cleanout point, capturing video of pipe condition, blockages, defects, or abnormalities.

CCTV inspection is the industry standard for sewer diagnostics. It identifies blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and deterioration. IMPORTANT: This service is NOT available in NSW due to regulatory requirements.

FAQs

  • Can you inspect a sewer line if it's blocked?

Depends on the blockage severity. Light blockages (roots, grease, debris) we can usually work around. The camera is only about 2.5cm in diameter. Heavy blockages might need clearing before we can inspect. If we can't pass the camera, we'll advise and you may need a jetting/cleaning service first, then re-inspection.

  • Is sewer camera inspection messy?

It shouldn't be. The camera enters through a cleanout point, not from inside your home. Our team manages the process carefully to avoid spillage or backup. If there's a blockage or backup in progress, we'll discuss how to manage that before starting.

  • How far can the camera travel down the line?

That depends on the line length and condition. Most residential lines can be inspected from the cleanout at the property to the council's main line (typically 30–50 metres). Very long runs or severely damaged lines may have distance limits. We'll discuss reach and coverage before the inspection.

  • If the camera finds a problem, can you fix it immediately?

The camera inspects and diagnoses. It doesn't repair. Some issues (like grease buildup or light root intrusion) can be addressed by a drain cleaning / jetting service. Structural problems (cracks, misalignment, collapses) usually require a specialist plumber or trenchless lining contractor. We'll provide the video evidence they need to plan the repair.

  • Will the video be accepted by my insurer or council?

Almost certainly yes. Sewer camera inspection is the industry standard. Your insurer and council will understand the video and use it to assess liability or requirements for repair. We provide the video in a standard format that anyone can review.
